| Savour "Poon Choi" w/Island Tour (4 Mar) Taking the opportunity in celebration of Hung Shing Festival, a Temple Fair is organized every year to pay homage to Hung Shing, a protective deity of the sea. The Fair includes a Poon Choi Feast for thousands people, which are held in front of the Hung Shing Temple at Tai Kok Tsui on Kowloon Peninsula.
“Poon Choi”, which literally means food served in a basin, is a traditional type of Chinese food served in wooden basins. It was said that Poon Choi was invented during wartime in the late Song Dynasty, which the locals collected all their best food available, cooked it, and put it in wooden washing basins to serve the Emperor as well as his army. Nowadays, Poon Choi is often served during festive occasions in symbolizing prosperity and abundance.
This special tour will allow you to enjoy the unique and exceptional dining experience: Over a thousand people gather to enjoy Poon Choi together in the open air on a street. What’s more? The tour begins with a journey of Hong Kong Island: ride through the urban landscape to the more relaxing southern shore before serving a delicious Poon Choi dinner.
